Haas F1 Team driver Kevin Magnussen has said he is pleased with both his and the team’s performance in the Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday, although he had a “tough” opening lap.

“It was tough luck on the first lap.  I made a good start and I got through Turns 1 and 2 very well.  Then I was pushed out on Turn 4 and I lost a few positions there,” said Magnussen.

Alongside his team-mate, Romain Grosjean, Haas secured their fourth double points finish of the season, with Magnussen in ninth and Grosjean in eighth, respectively.

Magnussen said he knew that he knew he needed to close the gap having lost position on the opening lap.

“I had to get those positions back and close the gap to Romain again.  We stayed put from there.  I’m happy for the team to get a double-points finish again.”

He added he was pleased they were able to make the best of a poor qualifying performance.

“It’s good to bounce back from the tough luck we experienced yesterday where I didn’t really qualify where I should have.  We did some damage limitation.  I’m happy we leave with points.”

Magnussen and the rest of the team will be hoping they will be able to end the season on a high by securing some more points in Abu Dhabi.
