With the 2018 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season finished, the focus switches to the 2019 season; on 31 October twenty-six drivers headed to Silverstone to get a taster of the second-generation ‘Type 991’ 911 GT3 Cup cars.
In addition to the on-track activities, potential drivers and sponsors were able to meet the team behind the fastest one-make sports car series in the UK, meeting past and present competitors of the series, along with experiencing the Vbox data logging system.
Along with the three cars available for prospective drivers, track time was also made available for all 2018 teams for individual testing and sponsor activations.
The Carrera Cup GB series has seen an increase in popularity in recent years, with a total of 34 drivers taking part in the 2018 season. Aside from the seven race weekends in the UK, the series visited the legendary track at Monza, Italy this year and also provided opportunities for some of its drivers to get involved in driving at Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Three Carrera Cup GB drivers this season also had the opportunity to compete in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup race at the British Grand Prix, playing support to the Formula 1 race at Silverstone with championship runner up Dino Zamparelli impressing to finish seventh against the regular drivers.
Porsche are offering an additional bonus to drivers signing up before 1 December 2018 and second opportunity for those to sign up before 21 January to receive a credit of £4,000 or £2,500, depending on the date of sign up.
