1 Mins read

After two years of running Porsche’s in the Blancpain GT Series Asia, Craft-Bamboo Racing will switch to at least two Mercedes-AMG GT3’s for the 2019 Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia, selected Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli rounds and the Macau FIA GT World Cup.

Craft-Bamboo Racing director and driver Darryl O’Young hopes the partnership will give the team what it needs to succeed in the growing championship.

“It goes without saying how much motorsport means to Mercedes-AMG,” he said. “Right from the initial discussions, we knew their primary focus was to work together to win races.

“The global success we have seen from Mercedes-AMG teams in the past seasons has set a high bar, so we will take the trust that they have put in us to ensure we are strong both on and off the track.

“Besides racing, we hope to utilise the brand’s strong commercial presence to give our team partners a foundation on which to build their promotional activities.

“All in all, Mercedes-AMG offers the full package needed to make a race team successful both sporting and commercial, and this is exactly what Craft-Bamboo Racing looks for in a manufacturer.”

Craft-Bamboo’s chairman, Frank Yu was happy to announce the long-term partnership, “Our long term co-operation with Mercedes-AMG means we will receive unparalleled support.

“We are very motivated for the coming years and are already working hard to ensure we have all the necessary elements to win races in the coming seasons. I am very excited for what lies ahead for Craft-Bamboo Racing.”

Mercedes-AMG’s Head of Customer Racing, Stefan Wendl added, “We are very happy that we were able to engage Craft-Bamboo Racing as a new team of Mercedes-AMG for the upcoming motorsports season,”

“In 2018 Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing celebrated the most successful year ever. Numerous series titles and race wins in GT3 and GT4 categories around the globe underline the performance of our race cars and of our customer teams as well.

“With Craft-Bamboo Racing we welcome another highly experienced team to our Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing family and we are looking forward to a successful partnership.”
