The TCR UK Series has announced that its competitors will be racing together with their TCR Europe counterparts at one of the world’s most iconic racing circuits: Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.

The Spa event will enable the entire TCR UK grid to compete directly with their European colleagues for the first time and is the perfect demonstration of the TCR ‘pyramid’ system, in which teams and drivers are able to compete in national, regional and international competitions using the same cars.

Several TCR UK drivers contested rounds of TCR Europe this year, with Ollie Taylor scoring points in both Monza races and Ash Sutton rounding off the season with third place in the final race at Barcelona, driving for WestCoast Racing.

This means that TCR UK is one of several TCR series that will join TCR Europe at some stage during 2019. Just as in 2018, several rounds will also count towards the TCR Benelux championship whilst the new TCR Eastern Europe Series will join the grids at three events.

The 2019 TCR UK calendar has already been announced, but details of the two Spa races had still to be confirmed at the time of its release. This news confirms that TCR UK will be joining forces with TCR Europe in Belgium over the weekend of June 8th and 9th.

Paolo Ferreira, who is the Promoter of TCR Europe, commented further on the Calendar announcement.

“We were delighted to see that the series’ inaugural season was so successful, attracting some of the best Touring Car drivers and teams from all over Europe,” explained Ferreira

“We are confident that it will grow even further in both quantity and quality next year, especially with the addition of visits of competitors from TCR UK, TCR Benelux and TCR Eastern Europe. We will also continue to encourage the TCR national series to run selected events together with TCR Europe.”
