Tost excited about 2019 Toro Rosso prospects

Red Bull Toro Rosso Honda team principal Franz Tost believes that his team already has a strong platform in which to build from in 2019.

As a team, they completed 305 laps during the post-season Abu Dhabi test, racking up 1694km. Tost praised Honda’s jump in reliability in aiding the team achieve their highest ever mileage in a two-day test.

“In two days of the post-season Pirelli test, Red Bull Toro Rosso Honda managed to complete an impressive 305 laps (1694km).

“This is the highest mileage we have ever achieved in a two-day test, so I’d like to congratulate the team and Honda for their hard work, as they’ve prepared a very reliable car.”

It was also Daniil Kvyat‘s first time back in an F1 car since being replaced at the team by Pierre Gasly in 2017. The Russian said he felt ‘comfortable and confident’ after his first day back and Tost is eager to see what his drivers can do next season.

“We were all more than happy to see Daniil back in Toro Rosso for the second day of testing, and he was able to immediately show a good performance.

“With all of the new data we’ve gathered, the engineers have a valid platform on how to prepare and run the tyres next year.

“We’re already looking forward to the next season, Daniil and Alex are very competitive drivers and we can’t wait to see them on track.”
