Porsche Carrera Cup GB organisers have announced a change of location for one of the rounds for the 2019 season.
On the original calendar it was planned that the series would head to Spain to support the European Le Mans Series at Barcelona, but competitors will now get the opportunity to run alongside the FIA WEC weekend on the full Grand Prix layout at Silverstone on 30 August – 1 September.
It marks a return to Silverstone and WEC for the series for the first time since 2016 when a freak snowstorm disrupted the weekend.
Three years on and Porsche GB 2016 / 2017 Scholar and 2017 Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion Charlie Eastwood who scored a double podium that weekend sits third in the overall standings of the GTE Am drivers’ championship.
While the timing of the weekends are yet to be announced, it is expected they will follow a similar format to the 2016 races that featured one 30 minute race and a 45 minute ‘feature’ race.
