United Autosports ahead in Practice for ELMS

1 Mins read

Felipe Alburquerque in the #22 United Autosport topped the combined timesheets from both practice sessions ahead of Dragonspeed’s Oreca.

The mornings first free practice session was massively cut short due to an accident involving the new Carlin Dallara at the end of the Hangar straight. Jack Manchester has suffered a back injury from the accident and has been written out of the whole event.

After the accident the session was red flagged due to barrier damage. The barrier damage at Stowe took a lot longer than expected to fix and the session never restarted. The race director agreed to add the lost track time to the free practice 2 session and give the teams and drivers the time they lost.

Free Practice 2 was extended into a 2 hour affair, giving the lost track time back to the drivers and teams ahead of Saturdays qualifying and 4 hour race. United Autosports continued their streak of speed and topped free practice 2 with a 1:43.175. Dragonspeed’s Oreca was second quickest only 0.2 seconds slower with a 1:43.365. G-Drive’s #26 Aurus was third fastest in the session with a 1:43.496 .

LMP3 was topped by Eurointernational in their #11 Ligier JSP3 with a 1:54.611, a clear 0.7 seconds quicker than the second placed #19 M Racing Norma M30 with their 1:55.252. Third quickest in LMP3 was the #6 360 Racing Ligier JSP3 with a 1:55.363. The top 5 in LMP3 were covered by less than a second, looking promising for Saturdays qualifying.

The GTE field was topped by the Spirit of Race Ferrari #55 with a 1:58.079, a clear 0.4 seconds ahed of the rest of the GTE class. Second and third were the 2 Kessel Racing Ferrari’s separated but less than 0.1 seconds making it an all Ferrari top three ahead of Saturdays qualifying.
