Teemu Suninen acknowledged that despite his slow start to the season, he’s “fully focused on Rally Mexico”.
The young Finn has so far this year has finished eighth on both Rallye Monte Carlo and Rally Sweden, but is aiming to prove he has the pace to challenge near the top of the standings on next weekend’s Rally Mexico.
The M-Sport Ford driver said ahead of the third round of the year: “We haven’t had the best start to the season, but I’m now fully focused on this event. We completed a pre-event test last week where we found a good set-up, and we know from previous years that the Fiesta is a fast and reliable car here. We will certainly be trying our best to score some good points next week.”
“I’ve always enjoyed this event (Mexico) and the stages are really nice to drive, but the high temperatures and altitudes mean that it can also be really challenging. Even with a world rally car you can feel the lack of oxygen and we need to be prepared for that – both physically and in our driving too.”
Suninen last season retired from Rally Mexico after a huge crash on just the second stage of the event.
2020 Rally Mexico takes place next weekend, beginning on Thursday evening.
