The BRDC British F3 championship is set to resume, with a new revised calendar, that includes 24 races at five different locations across seven weekends.
The F3 championship will run alongside the Intelligent Money British GT Championship at six of the seven events and then a standalone weekend at a Motorsport Vision Racing (MSVR) meeting.
Oulton Park, Brands Hatch and Snetterton have offered to host additional races to make up the usual 24 race calendar, after losing the race weekend at Spa-Francorchamps.
The grid positions for the additional races will be decided based upon the drivers’ best two laps from the opening three races. Due to the additional races, each driver will also be provided with an extra set of Pirelli tyres for the weekend.
After the current outbreak of the Coronavirus, temporarily stopping the season from beginning earlier in the year, the season is set to begin on 1 August at Oulton Park for a four race weekend.
Hillspeed’s team principal, Richard Ollerenshaw commented: “we were very happy indeed with the provisional calendar announced by BRDC British F3 and MSV last month, but with an extra visit to Donington now included and confirmation of a full 24 race schedule we really are delighted with what’s being delivered. We’re ramping up our preparations once again with the confirmation of the planned calendar”.
The BRDC British F3 revised calendar is as follows:
- 1-2 August – Oulton Park – rounds 1-4
- 15-16 August – Donington Park – rounds 5-7
- 29-30 August – Brands Hatch – rounds 8-11
- 19-20 September – Donington Park – rounds 12-14
- 3-4 October – Snetterton – rounds 15-18
- 24-25 October – Doninton Park – rounds 19-21
- 7-8 November – Silverstone – rounds 22-24
