Mercedes-AMG Motorsport will hold a two-day private test at Silverstone Circuit, in their 2018 car the W09, before the start of the 2020 FIA Formula 1 World Championship.
The Mercedes factory has been shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has also caused a hiatus in the Formula 1 season.
Both Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas will take part in the test in the 2018 Spec car. A tweet from the team revealed each driver will spend a day in the car before the Austrian Grand Prix.
The test will be used to help the Silver Arrows drivers prepare as the team aim to retain their World Championship and aim to break the record for most championships in a row; Alongside Hamilton, who will be hoping to equal Micheal Schumacher in seven titles.
The team announced in a tweet that on next Tuesday and Wednesday (9/10 June) the team will see the drivers get in a Formula 1 car for the first time since winter testing at Circuit De Catalunya-Barcelona.
The Mercedes account tweeted: “NEWS: We’ll be back on track next week @SilverstoneUK! Valtteri (Tuesday) and Lewis (Wednesday) will drive the 2018 Mercedes W09 in a two-day test as the team practises protocols ahead of returning to racing in Austria next month“
