A revised calendar for the 2020 FIA World Rallycross Championship has been approved by the World Motor Sport Council and it includes the return of the World RX of Finland.

Also notable is that the double-header to be held at the World RX of Abu Dhabi will now revert to just one round of the championship.

The championship will begin with the World RX of Sweden will kickstart the season on 22 August. Finland’s Kouvala follows the week after which will be run by Set Promotion rather than Finland’s national motorsport authority.

Finland held a round in the inaugural FIA World Rallycross Championship season in 2014 as Tanner Foust won in torrential rain.

However, the FIA European Rallycross Championship will not race in Kouvala meaning there will just be three rounds for Euro RX this year following the cancellation of Loheac.

October will be a busy month for the World RX as there are four events in the space of five weeks before the finale at the Nurburgring in December.
