Hitech GP have announced their first driver for the 2020 British Formula 3 season as Reece Ushijima is set to race with the team in August.

The 16-year-old Californian driver will begin his first season of car racing after graduating from karting. Ushijima switched his plans from Formula Renault Eurocup to British F3 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and following Hitech’s announcement of joining British F3.

Ushijima has previously tested and achieved podiums in Formula Ford 1600, achieving pole position, two podium finishes and a fastest lap. He has also set fastest laps in the Asian-based MRF Challenge on his debut in Dubai.

Ushijima commented, “I’m really excited to have the privilege to be able to work and race with an established and experienced team such as Hitech GP.

I know that the team will put maximum effort in to developing me on and off the track to be able to achieve the best results possible in my first car racing season.

After a delayed start to seasons all over the world due to the pandemic, I really can’t wait to hit the track and get racing”.
