The World RX of Abu Dhabi will not take place this year, leaving just seven venues and ten events on the 2020 FIA World Rallycross Championship schedule.

Yas Marina was set to host a double-header on 29-31 October but has been cancelled due to ongoing concerns surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement they said: “In light of continued global health concerns regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the World Rallycross of Abu Dhabi 2020, scheduled to be hosted at Yas Marina Circuit on 30-31 October, will unfortunately not take place this year.

“The health and safety of everyone involved remains the priority as we navigate these unprecedented circumstances. We very much look forward to welcoming the drivers, teams, and fans to Yas Marina Circuit for this world-class event in 2021.”

Abu Dhabi was introduced to the series last year and its absence now means there will be a two month gap between the penultimate round in Barcelona-Catalunya and the season finale at the Nurburgring on 11-13 December.
