Kevin Hansen picked up Team Hansen‘s first podium of the year in the second round of the 2020 FIA World Rallycross Championship in Höljes, Sweden.
Kevin put in a solid performance all day, scoring top five times consistently in all three qualifying heats, and added to a fine weekend with an excellent second place in the semi-finals too.
Later In the final, he pulled off an incredible overtake around the outside of Robin Larsson to take third place on track. After Johan Kristoffersson received a penalty for hitting two track markers, Kevin was promoted to second place, his best result of the season thus far.

“We all deserved a podium for our hard work and how we improved during the weekend as a team”, Kevin said after the opening double header. “We have a completely new crew of mechanics and they really deserve this podium after all the work they have done after this very long break. I’m happy for them that I was able to secure the result.”
The opening two rounds at Höljes was the first event ever to not have spectators and the magic was certainly missing from the normally crazy “magic weekend”. Kevin also dedicated his second place to his grandfather, Thord.

He added: “I really missed the fans on the podium today (Sunday). I was driving for them but it felt quite empty without the fans watching trackside. And I was thinking a lot about my grandfather, Thord, who passed away just before the World RX season finale last year. He never missed a race and this podium was for him. I really miss him.”
Kevin’s second place promotes him to fourth in the driver’s standings and moves Team Hansen into second in the team’s standings. The team are hoping to improve this weekend as World RX heads to Kouvola in Finland for the first time since 2014 as the delayed 2020 season continues.
