King impresses as Team Parker Racing dominate all classes in Carrera Cup GB Qualifying

Porsche GB Junior Harry King made it two from two in qualifying for the 2020 Porsche Carrera Cup GB as he secured another pole position at Brands Hatch on the GP circuit ahead of title rival Josh Webster.

In the mid-morning heat at the Kent circuit, it was Webster who set the bar for the field with an opening time of 1:31.994 which was quickly eclipsed by Rookie Matthew Graham and Ross Wylie.

Webster would move back to the top of the times again on his next lap as he moved to the front with a time of 1:27.771, improving it once again on his next time around the 2.4-mile circuit.

Webster would remain at the top of the times for the next seven minutes before King set a time of 1:27.190 on his fourth lap. The 19-year-old wasn’t done yet, with just over 3 minutes left of the session he would improve again to finish qualifying with a time of 1:27.079, 0.358 seconds faster than Webster.

In the ProAm category it was Steve Clark that led the way in the opening stages of the session before Aaron Mason took the top spot. With twelve minutes of the session gone, overall podium finisher and Team Parker racer Esmee Hawkey secured the fastest lap in class with a time of 1:29.140. By the end of the session she had improved further ending up with a time of 1:27.926, good enough to secure eighth place overall.

Hawkey’s Team Parker teammate Ryan Ratcliffe was second fastest in the ProAm class, finishing thirteenth overall, just ahead of Aaron Mason.

John Ferguson led the way in the Am class, trading times with Justin Armstrong before eventual pole sitter Justin Sherwood set the fastest time. With eight minutes of the session left to go, Lucky Khera looked like he would be on the top spot in class before Sherwood improved with a time of 1:29.244 and then again with a time of 1:28.646 to finish twelfth overall.

With Sherwood securing pole position in the Am class it marked a clean sweep for Team Parker across all three classes.

Race one will be held at 11:30 on Sunday 9 August, with the second race commencing at 15:55, you can follow the action live on ITV4.
