Anton Marklund and GCK Bilstein showed great pace at the World RX of Sweden double-header at the weekend.

On Saturday, Marklund was demoted to fifth place in the final due to contact with Timmy Hansen at the first turn having crossed the finish line in third. Crucially, he showed good pace in his newly developed Renault Megane and this continued on Sunday when he bounced back from a puncture in Q1.

Engine issues meant he missed out in the final but overall GCK Bilstein were happy with their performance in Holjes.

Marklund said: “Unfortunately, we missed out on the final today – the first two corners weren’t great and we lost some time, plus some engine issues had us running low on power and then of course carnage ensued.

“The Megane is certainly carrying its battle scars today but I cannot wait to go to Finland. The pace we’ve shown this entire weekend, especially on the loose surface, is really competitive and Finland should have pretty slippery surface also, so I can’t wait to show you what we can do there.”

Marklund is sixth in the championship standings with two more rounds this weekend at Kouvola which returns to the championship after a six year absence.
