The Hungarian double European Super 1600 Rallycross champion Krisztián Szabo is set to enter the fifth and sixth round of the 2020 FIA World Rallycross Championship at Riga in Latvia on 18/19 September – teaming up once again with GRX Set in their third Hyundai i20.

Szabo made a great start to his season at Höljes, posting some consistent times and taking qualifying race wins that lead to being placed in the midfield of the seventeen drivers on both days, also being the best placed Hyundai driver of the intermediate standings.

Szabo has been without a full-time drive this season but is set to enter selected rounds this season with the new team. Szabo admitted he was comfortable in the new car but he lacked confidence still and he continued to improve himself throughout last weekend.

“Racing at Höljes was an amazing experience. I feel very comfortable with the car and I have great and experienced people around me, who help me to progress from race to race,” Szabo said and continues to talk about the results from Riga earlier years;

“We already saw, that the competition in World RX is very tough, but I am not afraid of the challenge – I want to be a part of it. The track in Rīga is one of my favorite ones in the whole Championship. I always had a good result there and I feel we can succeed in Latvia.”

“Already before the season we had a confidence in Krisztián, and his pace at Höljes proved that we were not mistaken,” Jussi Pinomäki, Team Principal added.

“His steady progress, eagerness to improve and humble attitude is very inspiring. The track in Rīga is very different from the one at Höljes and maybe more suited for Krisztián’s driving style, so we hope for an even better performance for him at the fifth and sixth round of the FIA World RX season.”
