It was a challenging weekend for GCK Unkorrupted on the opening weekend of the 2020 FIA World Rallycross Championship in Höljes, Sweden with a semi-final spot for Rokas Baciuška in round one the highlight for the team.

Baciuška endured a difficult Sunday as engine issues after contact in Q1 dropped him down the order and gave him the worst of the track conditions for the next qualifying session.

Despite winning his race, he could only managed eleventh place followed by twelfth in the final qualifying session which was not enough to make the semi-final stages.

We’ve definitely had a tough race weekend here at the first couple of rounds of the Championship in Sweden – from the turbo breaking which resulted in some engine issues later to struggles with the car setup from the beginning of the weekend.” said Baciuška.

“We’ve been fighting hard to find a good way for the GCK Clio R.S. RX to take on the rest of the pack. We did a lot of testing on very different tracks and our setup didn’t match what we needed here, so there’s work to be done now to find competitive pace.

The Lithuanian showed great speed towards the end of 2019 and will be desperate to show similar form this season. This weekend’s event at Kouvola will be a new track for most of the drivers, including Baciuška so it could level the playing field and give the Lithuanian a chance to shine.
