Teemu Suninen admitted Rally Estoina was “a really difficult weekend” as the FIA World Rally Championship made its return on the event last weekend.
M-Sport Ford driver Suninen struggled to compete at the top of the overall leaderboard throughout the weekend and ended the event seventh, one place ahead of teammate Esapekka Lappi.
Speaking after the event, the Finn also admitted he found it difficult to get going again as the season resumed following a near six-month break. He said on his performance: “It’s been a really difficult weekend for us.”
“It took a while to get back in the rhythm, but it was good to be back after such a long time away. We were trying our best and today the times were a bit better, but we know that there is still some work to do. Now I’m looking forward to Turkey and Sardinia. We were strong at both those rallies last year, and I hope it will be the same again this year.“
He’ll be hoping that he can continue his fine run of form in Turkey in recent years next weekend after taking fourth at the event in both of the last two seasons.
