Anton Marklund avoided the chaos in Sunday’s World RX of Catalunya final to score his first podium of the 2020 FIA World Rallycross Championship.

Despite some tricky grid slots throughout the day, the Swede made it to the final and took advantage of the crash between Johan Kristoffersson, Andreas Bakkerud and Robin Larsson going into turn one.

He then overtook Mattias Ekström to make the top three for the first time in 2020.

Marklund said: “I’m really really happy for all of GCK and Bilstein. While I was at home trying to relax and doing analysis in between races, they’ve worked super hard at the workshop and the factory to bring us a race-ready car with significant improvements since Finland RX.

I’m just so happy that they’ve made it work and they now have a car that races extremely well and is fully back on pace. We just have to build on this now and we have a race win in us still.”

The GCK Bilstein driver will be looking for more success at the penultimate round of the year at Spa-Francorchamps on 21-22 November.
