JOTA will return to a two car squad for the 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship and have announced both cars driver line-ups.

Continuing on from their strong performance in the 2019/20 season, Anthony Davidson, Antonio Felix da Costa and Roberto Gonzalez will remain grouped in the #38 entry. Da Costa will, once again, split his racing time between the World Endurance Championship and FIA Formula-E with DS Techeetah, with whom he won the 2019/20 Formula-E Drivers’ Championship. This will also be the third consecutive year Davidson and Gonzalez have raced together in LMP2, with the pair originally joining forces in the 2018/19 season onboard the DragonSpeed LMP2 entry with Pastor Maldonado.

In the additional car, that will race with #28, Stoffel Vandoorne, Sean Gelael and Tom Blomqvist will be behind the wheel. Alike da Costa in the sister car, Vandoorne and Blomqvist will share their time between the endurance paddock and Formula-E. The move means, however, that for the first time since 2014, Gelael will not feature on the FIA Formula 2 grid.

The trio in the #28 car will also take part in the Asian Le Mans Series with JOTA.

On the 2021 endurance driver line ups, team co-owner David Clarke told Motorsport.com: “We are really excited to confirm Sean, Tom and Stoffel’s programmes for 2021 and are looking forward to challenging for wins and the LMP2 title. The quality of this trio is another great statement of intent from us all at JOTA. I’d like to thank all three for showing such great foresight and commitment in getting this plan together and we look forward to some great action and top results across the world in 2021.

“Continuity over the seasons is quite rare in endurance racing, so it is great to see Roberto, Anthony and Antonio back together again for the upcoming season with us. They all clearly showed that they had flair, consistency, a great team ethic and many other attributes to mount a serious title challenge last time around. These are all traits that JOTA also revel in when we go racing, so each of these guys fits in very well with the whole team.

“Roberto has really proved to be one of the most impressive genuine silver ranked drivers in the business and he excelled through the support, advice and experience of both Anthony and Antonio. So, we are really looking forward to achieving more great results together throughout the 2021 WEC season.”

For the last few seasons, JOTA has had a working partnership with Jackie Chan Racing, but it is understood that both the #28 and #38 will be JOTA branded cars this season, and the partnership with Jackie Chan no longer exists.
