Lorcan Hanafin will get back behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car once again this year as he launches his championship bid with the Joel Tandy Racing team that took Dan Harper to championship victory in 2019.

Hanafin made his series debut last season with JTR and collected one second place and three further third places as Harry King romped home to a dominant championship victory.

This year the Leeds-based youngster will be hunting down the victory that alluded him in 2020 as he once again teams up with JTR, looking to improve on his fourth placed championship run.

“I can’t wait to get back racing. It’s seems like a lifetime since last season finished, so I’m really eager to get working again with the top people at JTR and build on what we learned last year,” explained Hanafin.

“I plan to be fighting for the drivers championship in 2021. Of course this wouldn’t be possible without my amazing sponsors MIS Motorsport, DMR Jewellery and Watches, Porsche Centre Leeds and Reviv Leeds.”

JTR Team Principal Nick Tandy is happy to have the youngster back on the team and is looking forward to continuing to help him grow.

“Joe Tandy Racing is extremely pleased to go into battle in 2021 with Lorcan once again within our team. He is a very promising young professional, his pace in his rookie season last year was clearly there and now with a year’s worth of experience in the Porsche, he will be ready to consistently challenge at the front of the field.

“We have a good test program planned before the season starts and early testing form has been fantastic for both car and driver.”

The 2021 season will get underway at Snetterton in Norfolk on 12/13 June after a recent calendar change announced by series hosts TOCA.
