No longer the Formula 1 rookie, Nicholas Latifi is excited for the first race back after what he describes as a ‘different to normal’ pre-season. This year, the testing was cut short from six days to three, leaving teams and drivers little time to get to know how the cars are running.
Despite this, it has only made the Canadian more eager to get back in the car and get back on track at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
“It goes without saying that I’m super excited for the first race of the year! The pre-season run-up has obviously been a little different to normal with the shorter schedule test taking place in Bahrain and only having one day in the car, so I’m looking forward to getting back out on the track,” Latifi stated.
Latifi also credits what his Williams Racing team have been doing behind the scenes. He stayed out in Bahrain with the team after testing, which has given him additional time to train instead for having to travel from international waters.
Last year, the team was unable to score a single point. Latifi’s looking forward to seeing the progress the team has made and hopefully that means points and lifting Williams from the bottom spot.
“It’s been a huge amount of hard work from everyone at the factory and here at the circuit to get everything ready to go, so I’m incredibly excited and motivated to start the new season and see what kind of progress we can make this year.“
