Porsche Carrera Cup GB race winner Lewis Plato will make his return to the series this season after sitting 2020 out.

Plato will team up with the Valluga squad that was due to run him in 2020, but due to the global pandemic had to put his plans on hold for the year.

Valluga Team Manager Benji Hetherington is looking forward to getting started with Plato for the new season, highlighting that not only does he bring race winning to track for himself, but it will also benefit the team as a whole in a coaching capacity.

“Genuinely thrilled to get Lewis back on the grid this year. We had high hopes and plans for 2020, but for sensible reasons we pushed those to 2021,” said Hetherington.

“Lewis is a huge asset for Valluga, both in the driving seat and as part of our driver coaching team. I rate him equally highly in both which is why I’m excited to get racing in June. For me, Carrera Cup is the pinnacle of one-make racing in the UK and I’m confident Valluga has dropped another name into the Championship fight for 2021.”

Plato’s last full season campaign in 2019 saw him take one victory, four second places and a further three third place finishes, along with a fastest lap at Brands Hatch on his way to fourth in the championship.

The Essex driver is ready to hit the ground running, commenting, “I am looking forward to returning to Carrera Cup grid this year, especially after a year away from racing. I am excited to be racing with the Valluga team, who have huge experience in racing Porsches.”
