In a repeat of Saturday’s SPEED Energy Stadium Super Trucks opener, Sheldon Creed kept Matt Brabham at bay en route to sweeping the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg weekend.
As with Race #1, Creed and Brabham started at the back. Jett Noland, whose Saturday ended after a lap two crash, was on the pole ahead of Bill Hynes. Despite a good jump by Hynes at the green flag, Noland kept the lead while Robert Stout moved into second.
Noland led the opening lap before Stout took the top spot. Behind him, Creed and Robby Gordon moved through the order and the former claimed the lead on lap four. Until the lap six competition caution, Stout tumbled down the field to fifth as Brabham and Arie Luyendyk Jr. passed him.
Creed took off at the green flag while Brabham immediately hopped into Gordon’s draft and overtook him entering turn one. Luyendyk moved up to third shortly after, but Gordon reclaimed the position as lap eight began. Further back, Max Gordon spun but rejoined the race. With the lap coming to a close, Stout and Luyendyk initiated a battle for fourth.
Brabham chased down Creed for the rest of the race, during which they completely isolated themselves from the others. Like on Saturday, Brabham tried a final move in the last two corners but was too far back and went wide, enabling Creed to pull away and score his thirty-eighth career win and fourth at St. Petersburg.
Creed completed the weekend sweep, the first in the series since he accomplished the feat at Texas Motor Speedway in 2019. He was also responsible for the last sweep on a street circuit at the 2017 Detroit Grand Prix.
Robby Gordon finished third to complete the podium, followed by Luyendyk, Stout, Noland, Max Gordon, Hynes, and Bo LeMastus. Creed, Brabham, and Luyendyk (who finished third in Race #1) made up the top three for the overall weekend.

The reigning NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion regularly returns to SST whenever the opportunity permits. “[W]as able to pick up two wins for @continental_tire now time to focus on Kansas!”
“Little recap on today’s race,” began Max Gordon. “I was running 6th and setting my pace and I was waiting for the yellow flag to come out so that way I could be with the pack and go again[…]
“[S]o the yellow flag came out and on that lap I was running behind @jettnolandracing and I unfortunately went for the pass and I braked late in a fast turn section and that brakes locked up on the paint and it slid into the braking zone past that and got the car turned around and made it back past @thethrill57 and was catching back up to the pack but for the day I made it back to 7th I believe.”
“Had a hell of a time this weekend at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg,” Noland wrote. “These Stadium Super Trucks are a hell of a lot of fun to race. Hoping we can get back behind the wheel of one again soon.”
