The Alpine F1 Team had a good qualification session with both the drivers finishing in the top ten positions at the 2021 Spanish Grand Prix. At the hard to overtake Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya circuit, the qualification on Saturday is crucial to scoring points in the race on Sunday.

Esteban Ocon finished in fifth position and Fernando Alonso finished in tenth position on a good day for the French team. Alonso returns to his home circuit after two seasons away from the sport.

Davide Brivio, the Alpine F1 Team Racing Director, said: “It was a very good qualifying today with Esteban fifth, the best result of the year for us so far and Fernando also inside the top 10. We’re happy to have both cars in Q3 for the first time this year.

The drivers are working well with their engineers in setting up the car and finding a good balance and even finding some small, but important, improvements from FP3 to qualifying. It’s a credit to everyone in the team who has done a good job this weekend. We want to keep the momentum going and capitalise on these good starting positions in tomorrow’s race.”

A third consecutive double points finish seems on the cards fro the Alpine F1 Team. The team currently lies in fifth position in the constructors’ championship. They have to make up a gap of twenty-nine points to the fourth-placed Scuderia Ferrari team.
