Fresh off scoring a top ten in his ARCA Menards Series début, Chris Hacker will be moving up to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. On Tuesday, Hacker announced he will compete in the Rackley Roofing 200 at Nashville Superspeedway on 18 June, driving the #94 Chevrolet Silverado for Cram Racing Enterprises.
Hacker joined CRE last August with plans of running the 2021 ARCA opener at Daytona and part-time in the Trucks. He contested the ARCA Menards Series West season finale at Phoenix, where he finished fifteenth in a joint venture between CRE and Fast Track Racing. A positive COVID-19 test caused him to miss preseason testing for Daytona and consequently abort those plans, and he instead raced at Charlotte last Saturday where he finished tenth in the #94.
The 21-year-old has developed a following on social media after Twitter campaigning to convince Red Bull, which departed NASCAR after 2011, to return as a sponsor on his truck. While this endeavour has not resulted in success, Hacker reached out to Marcus Lemonis, who owns series title sponsor Camping World and has sponsored a litany of trucks needing the funding in 2021, in Tuesday’s announcement and attached a render of a blank truck with “SPONSOR ME” plastered. If necessary, he would run the paint scheme as depicted.
“We have no sponsors for this race,” Hacker tweeted. “This is my official scheme so far… is there any way @marcuslemonis could help out at all?”
CRE has received Lemonis’s blessing on numerous occasions. Of the ten races so far, the team’s #41 has sported liveries promoting Camping World and his other companies Overton’s and Good Sam for six.
Hacker, who mainly competes in late models like CRA, is the first NASCAR driver to compete with a brachial plexus injury in his left arm that he sustained at birth. The injury forces him to steer using his right hand instead, but he has noted this does not impair his driving.
CRE’s full-time #41 is currently thirty-sixth in the owner standings with owner/driver Dawson Cram having entered all but one race; the exception came at Bristol Dirt with Ryan Huff. Cram Racing Enterprises’s best finish since opening in 2020 is sixteenth at Martinsville that year, while Cram recorded a seventeenth on the Daytona Road Course this February.
The #94, which Hacker clarified later in the night would be his ride and not the #41, will be a new entry for the team.
