The South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai have selected Sean Kim to become the new president for the Hyundai Motorsport division.

Kim has replaced the former president Scott Noh, who has been the president for four years. According to the press release given out by Hyundai, this is a normal switch within the senior management cycle.

Noh will be returning to South Korea, where he takes over a new role within the management positions. Kim, meanwhile, will be the top manager at Hyundai Motorsport’s Alzenau plant in Germany. In addition to the FIA World Rally Championship, Hyundai will compete in the all-electric touring car series ETCR and the team will also have its own customer-side program in the rally.

Kim has been invovled in the rally programme for four years when it started back in 2014 and he has been working for Hyundai since the year 2000.

“I am delighted to take over the role of president at Hyundai Motorsport from Scott and to continue the work that he has so successfully overseen for the past four years,” Kim said.

“I was fortunate to work on vehicle development in preparation for our WRC entry back in 2014, so I have watched the company go from strength to strength over the years.”

The Hyundai Motorsport rally steam still does not have an actual team manager. The role will still be temporarily filled up by the Frenchman Julien Moncet.

“It has been a great opportunity and experience to be able to work with Hyundai Motorsport, a strong team of people with whom I have shared many memorable moments.” Noh added.

“It has been an honour to lead this team to two manufacturer titles in WRC, and I head back to Korea, as part of a planned move, for a new challenge with happy memories of my time in Alzenau.”
