“We just couldn’t run with the quicker cars” – Daniel Ricciardo

Daniel Ricciardo finished a disappointing thirteenth at the Miami Grand Prix, however, it was later revealed that he was dehydrated because of the McLaren F1 Team’s weight restrictions.

Where usually, drivers are allowed three litres of water with them in the car, this time Ricciardo had less. Track temperature was considerably higher than thirty-degrees and air temperature was around the same. This obviously took a toll on Ricciardo during this race.

“It felt like an eventful race. There were some battles and also moments of fun but it felt like we were defending more than attacking. We were trying our best to hold on. I think in the Medium stint we were able to go long at the beginning, but I’m not sure if we were that quick. It felt like we were able to at least keep the tyre going. But then with the Hard I just struggled, really struggled to get that going.

“Towards the end of the race when everything gripped-up, we just couldn’t run with the quicker cars. So, battling hard, and thought I got close to the points there, but it just wasn’t quite enough today. We’ll keep at it. I think this circuit certainly played to a few of our weaknesses. Lots of long corners, lots of long straights, so we’ve got to work on that, and then hopefully Barcelona will suit us a bit more, so I’m looking forward to that.”

“We’ll make sure we bounce back” – Lando Norris

Lando Norris was held-up by a DRS train of the two Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One Team cars and the two Haas F1 Team cars in Miami.

The Brit later crashed out after colliding with Pierre Gasly. He, therefore, had to retire from the race late on, Norris labelled the crash as just a “silly accident”.

“A tough day. Obviously, it didn’t end anywhere near like we wanted it to. I think the collision with Pierre was a bit of a racing incident. I guess I maybe could have left a bit more space, but so could he and we just ended up coming together. We luckily didn’t end up losing out too much. Maybe one or two points, but one or two points is always a nice thing to have. So a bit of a shame but it happens and we’ll make sure we bounce back and do better next time.”
