Sébastien Ogier has now confirmed he will contest the remaining rounds of the 2022 FIA World Rally Championship for Toyota Gazoo Racing and is replacing Esapekka Lappi who has done seven rounds for the team this season, they both have shared the third Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 over the year.

The eight-time world rally champion has done a part-time driving duty this year together with his Finnish teammate Lappi, Ogier was already confirmed to take on the upcoming Rally New Zealand later this month and it was also understood he would do the season-finale at Rally Japan. However, this morning he confirmed he will also be adding the Rally RACC – Rally de España in mid-October to his plans,

Ogier has already started three rallies this season, with the best result coming at the season-opener of Rallye Monte-Carlo where he was fighting for the rally win until the very last stage against his fellow compatriot Sébastien Loeb and finished second overall. Tire troubles ruled him out on the opening leg of Portugal and he managed to finish fourth in Kenya last time out.

“I am very excited to go to New Zealand, but the news is that I will also compete in Spain and Japan to finish the last three events of the championship. I am really excited for this new challenge and I’m looking forward to seeing [everyone].” Ogier said.
