FIA and the WRC Promoter have now announced a 13 rounds calendar for 2023 featuring a brand-new round taking part in three countries in Europe and rallies returning in North and South America.
As reported for about two years ago when the rumours started to circulate the rally community, the WRC will feature a round which takes place across three European countries around their borders when Austria, Czech Republic and Germany host the new Central European Rally on 26-29 October. The tarmac rally will be based out of the south-east German city of Passau.
The calendar will be running from January to November with the annual Rallye Monte-Carlo firing up the season on 19-22 January, followed by the successful return to Umeå with Rally Sweden on 9-12 February before the returning Rally Guanajuato México takes place on 16-19 March with Croatia Rally doing their third edition on 20-23 April.
The middle of the year hasn´t seen any changes with Vodafone Rally de Portugal on 11-14 May, Rally Italia Sardegna on 1-4 June, Safari Rally Kenya on 22–25 June, Rally Estonia on 20-23 July, Secto Rally Finland on 3-6 August and EKO Acropolis Rally Greece on 7-10 September.
After Greece, the rally will head back across the Atlantic to South America with Rally Chile hosting for the first time since it debuted in 2019 on 28 September – 1 October, then the new Central European round is hosting the penultimate round before FORUM8 Rally Japan rounds up the season on 16-19 November.
