In Finland, at the moment the new Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 is now being developed and tested by Toyota Gazoo Racing during the year where the last half of 2023 will involve a busy test program through Europe to test the car before its debut in 2024.

But they will get a little help, a car based on the GR Yaris Rally2 will compete in the Japanese Rally Championship in 2023. It is Norihiko Katsuta, father of WRC driver Takamoto Katsuta, who will change cars to a four-wheel-drive this time. In this year’s championship, Norihiko took victory in a nationally built Toyota GR Yaris.

This year, from the second round of the championship, Toyota Gazoo Racing will send over a prototype of the Rally2 car that will go on dispensation in the championship with Norihiko as the driver, a perfect base to accumulate miles for the team before the important launch in the tough WRC2 class awaits later the following year.
