McLaren F1 Team released their 2023 car on Monday, the MCL60, ahead of the highly anticipated 2023 FIA Formula 1 Season.
Lando Norris was present during the team launch event at McLaren’s Headquarters in Woking to celebrate the team’s 60 year anniversary. 2023 marks Norris’ fifth year in Formula 1, and he will be looking to impress again after adding his sixth podium last season at the 2022 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Norris will also be out to secure his place as best of the rest once again after finishing seventh with 122 points last season.
The British driver spoke on his off-season away from the sport and his thoughts on the new MCL60 after seeing it for the first time.
“The off-season has been good but I’m looking forward to getting back on track and behind the wheel of the MCL60 for the first time,” said Norris. “The new car looks great, and everyone involved in the build has played an important role.“
Norris also spoke about the challenges of his fifth season in Formula 1 and how he will look to support Oscar Piastri in his rookie season.
“This is my fifth year in Formula 1 and I’m hoping to carry positive momentum into the new season after a year of racing under the new era of regulations,” he said. “It’s been a good challenge adapting to them and I feel that I’m in a positive position to keep on improving as a driver.
“I’ve enjoyed my journey with the team so far and to be involved in McLaren’s 60th anniversary is a privilege. I’ll continue to work hard alongside Oscar throughout this significant year as we look to maximise opportunities to score points.”
