Steve Roberts looks to extend his championship lead with Redline Racing in the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB. Going into the weekend at Croft, Roberts leads the championship table ahead of his teammate Toby Trice in second, with the pair both looking to extend their lead.
“You always come into each weekend with confidence you can be at the front and you’re putting the season together,
“You’re always in that protection mode as well that I don’t particularly like, I like to be able to come to each weekend and try and win outright.”
Roberts began the weekend topping the timings in free practice and qualifying fifth. Speaking to TCF he commented: “I ended up qualifying fifth and I was distraught, but it was a tenth and a half off pole so it’s so close at the top.
Roberts managed to claim third after post-race penalties in the first race of the weekend on Saturday after finishing fourth and claimed the fastest lap. The second race of the weekend on Sunday saw Roberts claim fourth.
The final race of the weekend ended with a non-finish for Roberts after making contact with another car.
Looking ahead to the next rounds, Roberts commented: “All I want to do is maximise my pace in free practice and qualifying.”
