The FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) is set to make history in 2024 with a staggering 19 Hypercars and 18 LMGT3 entries, featuring an unprecedented lineup of 14 manufacturers. This marks the highest number of manufacturers in the championship’s history, underlining the global appeal and continued growth of endurance racing.

The 2024 WEC grid will showcase a diverse array of manufacturers, including Alpine, Aston Martin, BMW, Cadillac, Corvette, Ferrari, Ford, Isotta Fraschini, Lamborghini, Lexus, McLaren, Peugeot, Porsche, and Toyota. The presence of such renowned names underscores the championship’s standing as the premier endurance racing series worldwide.

A notable addition to the driver lineup is seven-time MotoGP World Champion Valentino Rossi, who joins Team WRT in the LMGT3 category. Formula 1 fans will also see the transition of former Haas F1 and current Mercedes F1 reserve driver Mick Schumacher to endurance racing as he joins Alpine’s driver lineup.

Since the introduction of the Hypercar class in 2021, the WEC has experienced remarkable growth, reaching a pinnacle with a record-breaking entry list for the 2024 season. Nine manufacturers will compete in the Hypercar class, with reigning World Champions Toyota facing strong competition from the likes of Cadillac, Ferrari, Peugeot, Porsche, BMW, Lamborghini, and Isotta Fraschini.

The 2024 WEC season will expand to eight rounds, welcoming new locations in Sao Paulo (Brazil), Doha (Qatar), and Imola (Italy), along with a return to COTA in Texas, USA. This geographical expansion underscores the championship’s commitment to providing a global spectacle, covering five regions – Europe, the Middle East, Asia, North America, and South America.

In a significant development for 2024, the WEC introduces the all-new LMGT3 category, replacing the longstanding LMGTE class. Based on the FIA’s existing GT3 technical platform, the LMGT3 category will continue to emphasize the participation of gentlemen drivers.

Full driver line-ups for the 2024 WEC season will be announced in due course, adding to the excitement surrounding what promises to be a landmark year for endurance racing. For the complete entry list, click HERE.
