As the racing continues deep into the night at Silverstone for hour nine of the 2012 Britcar 24 Hours, Team LNT were still forging ahead strongly in the overall lead with no issues, keeping a steady 5-lap advantage, ahead of the MP Motorsport E46 GTR, which current leads Class 2.
Hour Six of the 2012 Britcar 24 Hours at Silverstone continued into two and a half hours of the night shift, as several teams in all classes were suffering one drama or another, both on and off track.
Hour four of the 2012 Britcar 24 Hours at Silverstone was fast heading towards the beginning of night racing for all four classes, as Neil Garner Motorsport and its Mosler still being the only car on the lead lap, as Team LNT continued their steady progress around the ‘Home of British Motorsport’ in second place.
Hour two of the 2012 Britcar 24 Hours started with Team LNT leading the way, as Lawrence Tomlinson took over from Mike Simpson behind the wheel of the Ginetta G55, which retook the lead from the Mosler of Neil Garner Motorsport, after its initial first stint being six laps longer than Team LNT.
Even though the 2012 DTM season is nearing its oncoming conclusion, BMW Motorsport is looking ahead to next season, as it prepares to bring in a fourth team for 2013, as the newly-formed Team MTEK outfit, which will be based in Garching, just outside Munich, recently got the green light by Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt to start preparing in earnest for next year.
Since joining the DTM grid in 2005 Bruno Spengler was a Mercedes-Benz driver, collecting a fleet of runner-up spots in the championship. But with 2012 came a ‘new’ manufacturer to DTM and new a challenge for the 29-year-old.
In what has provided another twist in the tale for this year’s title fight, Canada’s Bruno Spengler led the 51-lap race at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben from start to finish, showing that the Munich manufacturer have more in the tank, as the race for the title hots up with just two races to go.
After a two-week break, Qualifying for round eight of the DTM got underway at Oschersleben, but BMW is still bringing the fight to Mercedes-Benz, as Bruno Spengler got the better of everybody, to secure his hat trick of Pole Positions for the Munich manufacturer.
The Stuttgart manufacturer returns alongside both Audi and BMW for Round 8 of the 2012 DTM season, as we fast approach the business end of the championship, which has been an interesting season so far. Oschersleben is a very challenging track, leaving all the 22 drivers with little time to regroup on the 3.696km German circuit. It shares a very similar layout to Zandvoort, with the drivers having to drive a precision-filled lap to secure fast times.
As it was possibly expected, events were played out in full view in the Netherlands that the 2012 season of the DTM was to provide a welcome change in the way the title race was being played out. The weather, as seems to be the case at Zandvoort, turned the grid upside down, as well as providing some action, drama and fallout for all to hear and see.
