Cristina Gutierrez took the stage win in the lightweight vehicle class, becoming the first female to win a Dakar stage since 2005, while Carlos Sainz was the victor in the car category.
Nasser Al-Attiyah topped the car class through the prologue of the 2021 Dakar Rally, but it will be the USA’s Ricky Brabec who will start on the road first after topping the overall times.
Verstappen broke Mercedes’ chain of wins at Yas Marina Circuit, taking Red Bull’s first win since 2013.
