Robert Wickens underwent surgery on Monday night for spinal injuries he sustained in a heavy crash in Sunday’s IndyCar ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway. The Canadian has also broken both of his legs and his right arm and also bruised a lung in the crash.
Alexander Rossi has won the 2018 IndyCar ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway. The Andretti driver dominated the race with 180 laps led of 200, but the race was overshadowed by a major crash involving Robert Wickens.
After a high-speed accident at the start of this evening’s IndyCar ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway, series officials have stated that Robert Wickens is “awake and alert” and awaiting further medical treatment at a nearby hospital.
