BTCC 2010 Preview: Airwaves BMW – BMW 320si E90

1 Mins read

#5 Mat Jackson – #11 Steven Kane

Airwaves BMW have stated their ambition to be the BTCC top dogs in 2010 with their line up of 2008 series runner up Mat Jackson and the Steven Kane, as they look to build on their second season with the BMW.

Jackson, who returns to the BMW scene after a year in the Chevrolet Lacetti alongside Plato at Racing Silverline, has become a true fans favourite, with his on track determination and his approachable personality away from the track. It was this which helped him become the official btcc.net fans favourite driver in 2008.

For Kane, the return to the Motorbase run Airwaves BMW cars is a welcome return after missing the 2009 season. Kane took the teams first ever podium finish at Snetterton in 2008, with a second place behind new team mate Jackson. He would end up taking a further 2 podiums during the 2008 season finale at Brands, again one was behind Jackson.

2009 saw Jackson claim 4 wins en route to 5th place overall, this after an awful run of luck at Oulton Park, Croft and Snetterton, from there he took 8 consecutive podium finishes, 3 at Knockhill, 3 at Silverstone and 2 at Rockingham. Kane spent the 2009 season working as a test driver for the FIA Formula 2 Championship and commentating for Eurosport.

So Airwaves have the fans favourite with a returning favourite, and with it what some consider to be the strongest driver line-up on the grid. The only question left to answer – will they deliver the titles which David Bartrum craves?

Season Prediction:

Jackson will carry on winning and proving himself as a true title contender while Kane will show even more so why he is highly rated. Between the two of them, they should ensure that Airwaves BMW finishes as the top BMW team in the BTCC in 2010. Wins will happen, 1, 2 finishes will happen – and with luck, a title.

TCF Driver Predictions:

Jackson: 2010 will he his year. Champion.

Kane: Will back Jackson up and will secure fourth in the overall standings.
