YRC Begins New Junior Membership

1 Mins read

The team behind fan funded group YourRacingCar.com have announced a new initiative to try and bring younger fans closer to the action. The team, who are working alongside British Touring Car Championship team AmDMilltek Racing in 2011, are offering a new junior team membership for £15.

Like full YRC members,  the Junior member's get to have a picture of their choice placed on the teams Volkswagen Golf race car, as well as receiving a YRC sports bottle that can be filled up with juice for free at the YRC Dome on race days.

To keep the kids entertained, YRC have also announced a collaboration with Unlap, allowing juniors members to create their own AmDMilltek Golf inspired T-Shirts, with artist Luke Pollard helping them decide on their own choice of livery for the race car.

Pollard commented: “We started picking the kids range ourselves and quickly discovered that the junior members didn't hold back with their opinion of our choices. We leave the whole process to them now – it's a bit like the 80's film 'Big' in our meetings!”

Speaking about the new membership opportunity, YRC founder Hannah James said “In my experience, the kids that come to the BTCC know a lot more about the race cars than their chaperones! We all get a bit nervous when a junior member comes along with a technical question – there's no pulling the wool over their eyes, that's for sure”.

“They constantly remind me why I love the BTCC as a fan because they wear their emotions on their sleeves. They love the noise, the speed and the entertainment of it all. Their excitement is infectious.”
