Rob Austin Racing will only enter a single Audi A4, for driver David Pinkney at this weekend's opening round of the British Touring Car Championship.
A downbeat Rob Austin told www.thecheckeredflag.co.uk that the team still faced a “struggle” to bring car to Brands Hatch and would essentially be shaking down the full NGTC-spec machine during practice and qualifying.
“It's been looking unlikely for a little while now,” said Austin about fielding a full strength team. “We're still going to struggle to get the first car there – that's still a big job at the end of the Rob Austin Racing team have done everything physically possible, we've done everything right. I'm really proud, my boys have been pushing the project along.”
He added; “we should be testing by now, we should have been at the media day, we should have been testing before the media day.”
Austin and his team still plan on adding a second car to the line-up for the second round at Donington Park, with the team in talks with several drivers about the seat.
Austin said; “we won't have any slouches in the car ideally we're looking for a driver to bring budget, failing that we do have a bit of superstar lined up.”
