Michelisz: Monza Is A Huge Challenge

1 Mins read

Norbert Michelisz and the Zengo Dension Team will hope to build upon a promising first event with BMW when the World Touring Car Championship races in Monza this weekend.

Michelisz made his debut at the wheel of the BMW 320 TC at the previous round of the championship at Zolder in Belgium three weeks ago. Despite having had limited time in the car the Hungarian scored a seventh and an eighth place finish in the two races.

Michelisz will be hoping to improve on this result on the high-speed Monza circuit, where car setup is key.

“Generally, the sections that are followed by reasonably long straights are always important and Monza features these types of corners without any exception,” said Michelisz.

“The two Lesmos are unbelievably tricky, you wouldn't imagine how difficult they are but when you arrive into the corner, you realize how tough is to find the right setup for the car.

“You need to aim for the high straight-line speed but the car also needs to stay stable in the corners. From this perspective, Monza is a huge challenge for both the drivers and engineers.”
