Mat Jackson Wins Champagne Moment For Croft Performance

1 Mins read

Mat Jackson has won the latest British Touring Car Championship fans' vote for the HiQ Champagne Moment for his performances at the Croft round.

Airwaves Racing driver Jackson enjoyed two wonderful races in particular at the North Yorkshire circuit, storming from 12th on the grid in Race 1 to finish in second place, missing out on the victory to Matt Neal by just 0.055 seconds. He then took his third win of the season in the third race of the day.

Jackson claimed exactly 50 per cent of the vote to win the Champagne Moment award, ahead of the WSR pairing of Rob Collard and Nick Foster who came second and third with 18 and 15 per cent of the vote respectively.

His victory in the poll came three years after winning the first ever Champagne Moment for another sterling performance at Croft. In 2008 he surged through from the back of the grid to finish second to Colin Turkington.

Jackson has moved into second in the drivers' standings, just nine points behind Neal as the championship resumes at Snetterton this weekend.

As ever, one lucky BTCC fan who votes for their Champagne Moment on the HiQ website is picked at random to present the prize to the driver. The winner this time was Jacqueline Youde, who said that Jackson was 'awesome at Croft and definitely deserved this accolade.'

She won the opportunity to present Jackson with the champagne at Snetterton, but will do so instead at a later round in the season as she cannot attend on the day.
