Matt Neal and Jason Plato have both been handed a fine and penalty points on their race license after their pitlane confrontation after qualifying at Rockingham.

Both men have been fined £1,000, been given 3 points and left with a 6 place grid penalty suspended for the remainder of the season.

The two drivers had made contact in the closing minutes of qualifying while jockeying for position for a final handful of laps following a red flag for a Liam Griffin crash.

Neal aborted his lap, returning to the pits a lap before his Chevrolet driving rival, but the two confronted each other once Plato had returned to pits before member of both teams separated the two drivers.

Prior to the red flag Plato had already completed the lap that would ultimately give him pole position for the first of the three races. Matt Neal will start the first race – scheduled to start at 11:30am – from fourth
