Aon Hunting For Silverstone Success

Team Aon head to Silverstone for the final rounds of the 2011 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship hoping to put their Global Ford Focus into the podium mix once again after drivers Tom Chilton, Tom Onslow-Cole and Andy Neate all enjoyed strong weekends in the last meeting.

Last time out at Brands Hatch, Onslow-Cole secured the team's third podium finish of the year in the second race of the weekend. Neate nearly took his maiden BTCC podium in race three before a late mistake cost him dear, while Chilton also challenged for podium finishes, scoring points in all three races.

Unlike 2010, where Onslow-Cole headed into the final rounds with a chance of the overall title, while he and Chilton battled it out for independents glory, this season sees the Team Aon drivers heading into the final weekend unable to challenge for any championships.

This means the team are heading to Silverstone with the sole aim of getting all three cars on the podium as much as possible. The team would love to replicate their 2010 form, where they dominated the Silverstone weekend, Chilton and Onslow-Cole sharing all three wins between them.

Looking ahead to Silverstone, Tom Chilton said: “I'm feeling confident going to Silverstone. I like the circuit a lot and there are always a lot of spectators which is nice to see. We've gone well round here before so we should have a good weekend. It's also the finals day and we know that anything can happen in the last round!”

Team mate Tom Onslow-Cole commented: “We had a positive weekend last time out at Brands Hatch, I had a podium and would love to continue this form at Silverstone. It's a track I really enjoy driving and it always provides good races.”

Reflecting on the last race, Andy Neate added: “Having narrowly missed out on a podium at Brands Hatch I want to put it right at Silverstone. The car felt great two weeks ago, probably the best it's been all year, so we should be in for another positive weekend.”
