Fortec Motorsport have announced that 2011 Formula Renault 2.0 UK Champion Alex Lynn will remain with the team in 2012, as he steps up to the Cooper Tires British Formula Three International Series.

After two successful years in Formula Renault, winning the Graduate Cup and Winter Series in 2010, then the main championship this year, Lynn has decided that Formula Three is the next step for him and will remain with Fortec for a third consecutive year.

Lynn has already showed his determination to do well, flying out to Monza on the same day he won the Formula Renault title to test for Fortec the next morning, finishing just three tenths behind this year's Monza double pole sitter William Buller.

Lynn said: “I think my decision to go with Fortec will prove to be the right one, especially as my engineer from Formula Renault, Russell Dixon is moving up with me. As long as we put in the same effort and hard work that we have this year, there's no reason why we can't challenge the boys at Carlin who have won the title for the past four years.”

Fortec's Formula Three manager Mick Kouros added: “Alex has been with the Fortec family for two years now and it's great to have him on board for a third season. He has had great preparation in Formula Renault and he will more than cope with the step up to F3.”
