Andrew Jordan is confident of challenging the frontrunners from the start of this year's British Touring Car Championship after testing Pirtek Racing's new Honda Civic at Silverstone yesterday. The 22 year old had his best season yet in 2011, winning at Donington Park on his way to sixth in the championship with a turbo-powered Vauxhall Vectra but despite that, he has changed machinery for the upcoming campaign.
The Civic has been completed by Team Dynamics who took the car to the title last season and after setting the fifth fastest time yesterday, just a tenth off the factory Hondas, Jordan was high spirits, saying “the potential in the new car is clear and we should be able to hit the ground running at the first races of the season at Brands Hatch.”
The Pirtek Racing team will continue to run in their striking blue livery in the new season, with Jordan's teammate Jeff Smith carrying the branding of his Industrial Control Distributors company on his car. “The new livery is going to be familiar to fans of Pirtek Racing, but even brighter than before,” said Jordan. “People expect the Pirtek cars to stand out!”
With the new season less than two weeks away, preparations are on-going and the Pirtek team will carry out further testing at Donington Park and Rockingham before heading to Brands Hatch for the season opener.
