Onslow-Cole To Race In VW Cup At Snetterton

1 Mins read

Tom Onslow-Cole will become the second Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship driver this season to race in the APR Volkswagen Racing Cup.

The eBay Motors BMW racer follows Tony Gilham, who won on his outing at Spa in July, into the highly competitive series.

Onslow-Cole will be piloting a brand new Milltek Sport-Volkswagen Scirocco at Snetterton this weekend (August 4/5) ahead of the BTCC event a week later.

The 25-year-old said: “I won't even see the Milltek Scirocco until Saturday morning, and after a seat fitting it will be straight into qualifying – in at the deep end.

“I'm looking forward to it, though, and I think the practice is going to come in useful.”

The car has just been completed in the Northamptonshire workshops of KPM Racing, and team boss Kevin Poole believes there is no better baptism for it than to put it in the hands of a talented professional, saying: “This is the first of four hire cars we plan to run in 2013, and Tom will give it a good shakedown, I am sure.”

Aside from Gilham's win in Belgium, Onslow-Cole has plenty to live up to as another of KPM's Siroccos, driven by James Walker, has won twice this season and is heading the championship table.

The winner of the championship gets a fully funded outing in the final round of the Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup at Hockenheim in Germany, including accommodation and hospitality at the track.

A 25-car field is expected at Snetterton for rounds nine and 10 of the 14-round
