Reigning AirAsia Renault Clio Cup UK champion Jack Goff has signed to race for Tony Gilham’s Team-HARD. team in the 2013 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
Goff will drive one of the team’s two NGTC Vauxhall Insignias after testing one with the Dartford outfit last month at Silverstone.
The 21-year-old said: “It has always been a dream of mine to compete in the BTCC. Having won the Clio Cup Championship this season the next logical step was to try and get a deal for a seat in 2013 on the BTCC grid.
“Tony and the guys at Team HARD put an offer on the table for 2013 that fits in perfect for my plans and my future. My group of loyal and brilliant sponsors have always wanted to be a part of the BTCC too so it’s a great opportunity for us all to work together and build upon our success to date.”
The 21-year-old is the first of four confirmed drivers for the team for 2013, which will also run the S2000 Honda Civic they used in 2012, and one or more Volkswagen CCs.
Gilham has ruled himself out of the three remaining seats, and said it was important to have the right drivers in the right cars as the team’s BTCC ambitions ramp up.
“We’ve been working hard to put together the perfect team and Jack was an obvious choice for us,” he commented. “His progression throughout his career has been really solid and he is developing year-on-year. Last year he proved he is ready to step up to into the BTCC and we are the ideal team for him to do this with.
“It’s an exciting time for us at Team-HARD. and we are taking on a huge challenge, but we have the team in place to deliver. Jack will be joined by some big names with huge BTCC experience, so he will be surrounded by drivers and team members looking to develop him even further. We’re really looking forward to having him in the team.”
