Lanan Racing confirm Ussi, Craven for 2013 F3 Cup title bid

Lanan Racing are aiming to extend their impressive record in the F3 Cup championship in 2013 after confirming Gino Ussi and Alex Craven for the new season.

The Bedfordshire-based team were no strangers to success as they racked up 10 victories during the 2012 season, experienced Italian racer Ussi just falling shy of winning the overall title in the season finale at Snetterton in October.

53-year-old Ussi will again race a Dallara F305/7 chassis, and has already set high targets for 2013: “Without doubt I’m definitely hungrier for success after last year. I’m in it to win it as they say and after last year I think I need to string a full season together. I thoroughly enjoyed racing in F3 Cup last season and I’m very impressed with how Jonathan Palmer’s MotorSport Vision Racing group have turned it around.”

Joining Ussi at Lanan in a VW Dallara F307 is ex-Formula Renault driver Craven, the 30-year-old bringing experience to the team with previous success in BRSCC F3, Formula Renault and F3 Cup.

“I’m really looking forward to returning to F3 Cup, with a focus on winning the championship”, said Craven. “I secured podiums every time I raced in F3 Cup, so I hope to pick up where I left off.  The grids have grown since MSV have taken on the championship, and I’m looking forward to fighting for a win at the season opener at Oulton Park.”

Lanan Team boss Graham Johnson said: “We thoroughly enjoyed our time in F3 Cup last year and we hope to have the same impact in 2013 with Gino Ussi and Alex Craven. The championship is going from strength-to-strength and with Gino and Alex joining us this year we hope to be challenging for both Drivers’ and Teams’ titles.”
